Peer-mediated Instruction and Intervention

Definition: Using interventions that identify and systematically train peers to be models for and buddies to individuals with special needs (Bellini, 2016). This practice includes the following:

  • Peer modeling
  • Peer initiation training
  • Direct training for target student and peer
  • Peer networks
  • Peer supports
