Course description
This workshop provides an introduction to mindfulness and school-based yoga utilizing the Little Flower Yoga methodology which serves to:
- Help children/youth, and those who support them, thrive in the world regardless of circumstances, and navigate the many challenges they face with a sense of personal power and self-awareness.
- Provide tools that help children/youth navigate physical, mental and emotional barriers to learning, including managing distractions and building emotional regulation skills.
- Create environments of respect and encouragement, where children/youth can safely learn essential relationship skills, becoming more attuned to their own and others needs.

Continuing Education
TASN SMHI is an approved provider for the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (#18-011). Social workers may receive 5 continuing education credits for each day. Certificates of attendance will be available to download upon completion of a brief evaluation at the conclusion of the day.
Media Consent
SMHI may take photographs, videos, and recordings of activities and participants during training, meetings, and conferences. These items will be used to positively recognize the work of participants and promote learning. They may be shared via social media pages, the SMHI webpage, conference materials, and SMHI promotional materials. The utilization of photographs, videos, or recordings taken by SMHI will abide by all state and federal laws regarding confidentiality and will not be used for any commercial value or monetary gain. By registering to attend this event, participants agree to have photographs, videos, or recordings utilized, without remuneration, unless this permission is revoked in writing to SMHI.
Learning Objectives
- Identify how mindfulness and school-based yoga have beneficial effects on outcomes related to children/youth’s psychological well-being.
- Identify how mindfulness and school-based yoga practices enhance social emotional learning outcomes.
- Articulate how mindfulness and school-based yoga practices support staff well-being and co-regulation.
- Develop an individual, building/organization, or district/community-wide implementation plan.
Refund Policy
Registration may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the event for a full refund. Cancellations received within 14 days of the event will not be refunded. No-show registrations will also not be refunded.
