Title: Huh, What did you say? Communication and AT Strategies to Support Fluctuating Hearing Loss in Students
Description: On any given day in a classroom 1 in 6 students have a conductive hearing loss. Fluctuating hearing loss can be caused by simple head colds where students unknowingly have fluid in their middle ear. If, on average, 45% of classroom time is spent listening to the teacher’s voice what strategies and assistive technology tools can support students? Dr. Harden a long-time educational audiologist will share insights into intermittent student hearing loss. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss best practices for communication strategies and assistive technology that can be embedded into daily routines.
