We often quickly jump to the treatment of systems of an issue in our schools, forgetting to consider there's a deeper problem that needs attention. By only attending to the symptoms - what we see on the surface - the problem will almost certainly return, which will need fixing over, and over again. Thus, the importance of engaging in a root cause analysis - digging deep to find the underlying causes of a problem and identifying resources and supports needed to reduce the likelihood that the problem will occur again. Root cause analysis is a collaborative process that all educators can use to solve adaptive challenges they face in their school building.
