Course description

This session is part of the Kansas Infinitec Virtual Practitioners' Technology Summit on February 25, 2022.

Augmentative alternative communication provides multiple opportunities beyond daily communication for students with complex communication needs.  Studies have shown that AAC abandonment is unfortunately high.  However, research notes that involving families can increase implementation of AAC and help to decrease implementation barriers.

Join this interactive discussion to hear how some districts have taken steps to increase parent involvement with AAC implementation.  Be prepared to ask questions, share ideas and help problem-solve other barriers to parent involvement with AAC.

Learning Objectives

Participants will:

  • discuss strategies for engaging families in augmentative alternative communication implementation.
