THIS EVENT IS FREE TO KANSAS EDUCATORS The Kansas State Department of Education, Special Education and Title Services Department is supporting the TASN Co-Teaching series using the Richard Villa, Jacqueline Thousand, and Ann Nevin model. The TASN Co-Teaching series is designed to create and train co-teaching teams in addition to building district capacity to provide support to those teams and provide training to additional teams in the future. Co-teaching with Paraeducators training is a component of the TASN Co-teaching professional learning and coaching system. However, this event is open to any Kansas educator. Paraeducators must attend with their collaborating teacher. Administrators are also encouraged to attend. This event would also be appropriate for other possible co-teaching partnerships (general education. special education teachers, Title I providers, ESL specialists, gifted facilitators). In this training event, participants will: * Define what co-teaching is and what co-teaching is not; * Consider benefits as well as legal and research-based rationales for co-teaching; * Identify similarities, unique features, advantages and disadvantages across co-teaching approaches; and * Explore tools for collaboration and communication.
Materials and a working lunch are provided.
