This dynamic and engaging full-day course is a three part presentation which focuses on AAC capacity building through the 3 F’s: Foundation, Framework, and Future.
Foundational skills specific to AAC implementation will be reviewed. Attendees will explore coaching strategies such as goal setting, feedback, and reflection to support individuals and their families in developing their AAC skills. Common attitudinal barriers that impact effective implementation will be identified, as well as specific antidotes that can be used throughout professional discourse. Emphasizing collaboration as an essential element of successful AAC practice, we will explore strategies for fostering connection and a shared vision among AAC professionals and other stakeholders. Finally, the session will focus on the value of building a community of practice in AAC to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices.
A framework for effective AAC implementation will be provided through the use of two breakout sessions. Attendees will have the opportunity to attend sessions focused on developing the knowledge and skills to support AAC across settings while building capacity among all stakeholders. Breakout sessions are self-selected by participants to provide autonomy in choosing content that best matches their self-identified areas of professional growth.
Lastly, attendees will be encouraged to engage in future planning through professional networking and/or the development of custom tools or resources. Participants have opportunities to collaborate, connect, and tap into the collective knowledge and expertise of the group.
Registration may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the event for a full refund. Cancellations received within 14 days of the event will not be refunded. No-show registrations will also not be refunded.
