Course description

The pandemic teaching of mid-2020 was not a true depiction of distance learning, but rather it was crisis teaching. With dramatic shifts in the way that we are teaching and learning today, one thing that remains unchanged is the inherent power in every educator to teach for engagement and impact in any setting. We are now utilizing distance learning, whether fully or in hybrid models, to get on with schooling. The field is learning about what works and what doesn’t at breakneck speed.

Join KS MTSS and Alignment and Corwin for a Distance Learning Playbook Institute welcoming renowned educators and co-authors of the Distance Learning Playbook series, Dr. Douglas Fisher, Dr. Olivia Amador-Valerio and Dr. Dominique Smith as we explore the Distance Learning Playbooks for Teachers and School Leaders.

In the Distance Learning Playbook for School Leaders strand, presented by Dr. Dominique Smith, participants will learn how to lead schools and school systems from a distance and deliver on the promise of equitable, quality learning experiences for students.  School leaders have the potential to maximize learning across the school, even from a distance. To do so, leaders must spend time developing and maintaining the climate and culture of the school.  Maintaining a focus on instructional leadership is important as lessons are delivered in synchronous and asynchronous ways.  Using quality indicators, or “look fors,” based on the distance learning instructional framework, leaders can provide GREAT feedback that magnifies and maximizes effective practices across the school.  Sessions will include topics on creating and maintaining school climate and culture, instructional frameworks, mindframes for learning and leading in any setting.  Participants will also receive an eBook of the Distance Learning Playbook for School Leaders.
