Course description

In this 1-Day professional learning event, both general educators and special education providers will learn what differentiation is and is not. Through case study analysis, participants will practice a retrofit approach to differentiation by identifying mismatches and barriers based on a learner's strengths, background knowledge, cultural experiences, interests, learning preferences and needs. You will see examples of how to proactively differentiate content and materials, products and assessments, and processes of learning. You will make connections to the Universal Design for Learning framework.

Learning Objectives

  • Develop a personal rationale for providing differentiated instruction through the lenses of equity, diversity and inclusion,
  • Analyze the design elements involved in two approaches to differentiation,
  • Practice both a Retrofit and a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach to differentiation, and
  • Practice using design elements to integrate whole class, group, and individualized instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Refund Policy

Registration may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the event for a full refund. Cancellations received within 14 days of the event will not be refunded. No-show registrations will also not be refunded.
