This session is part of the Kansas Infinitec Virtual Practitioners' Technology Summit on February 25, 2022.

Want to see your students, all of your students, including your students with significant challenges, soar?  Join this session to learn how the focused use of technology and inclusive strategies can help.  This session will explore personalizing student experience in reading and writing by using assistive technologies and accessible educational materials.  The session will highlight how technology can be used in the Universal Design for Learning framework as a systematic way for providing flexibility and opportunities for independence, participation, and progress.  Tools teachers can use immediately to provide multiple means of representation will be demonstrated and practiced.  There will be a discussion and review on the similarities and differences between assistive technology and universal technology options.  

Learning Objectives

Participants will: 

  • describe the similarities and differences between assistive technologies and general educational technology tools.  
  • identify 3 strategies and/or technologies to create multiple ways of providing content for students.
