Building or District level leaders will use a systems perspective to examine the reasons their own self-care, as well as the social-emotional support of their staff, is important. Participants will analyze the impact mentally healthy staff and administration can have on school culture, teacher retention, and better outcomes for students. Participants will develop an implementation plan in order to apply strategies within their building/district which will encourage a sense of community, caring, connectedness, and meaningful communication.
In order to register for this 2-day online training (Oct. 7th and 8th, 2020), participants will first need to gather baseline data on their staff's self-care and social competency needs. This will allow use of the data during the 2-day session to create an individualized staff self-care implementation plan.
The participant will need to:
1. Email Nichole Hitchcock at nicholeh@tasnatbsorg to receive individualized links to the Self-Care Survey and CCC Needs Assessment just for your staff. Please indicate the name of the small group, building, or district that will be taking the survey and assessment so that the links can be named appropriately.
2. Request staff to complete the Self-Care Survey and CCC Needs Assessment (Email Template).
3. Complete the survey and assessment for yourself due to being part of the staff.
4. Email Nichole Hitchcock at nicholeh@tasnatbs.org once all staff and yourself have completed both the survey and needs assessment to indicate your baseline data is complete in order to be registered for the training.
5. Once registered, print off all materials labeled "Day of Training" along with the baseline results that will be emailed to you.
The administrator/participant will receive baseline results for all staff, be registered for the training, and receive an email with registration details. If multiple members of a team would like to attend, only one person will need to submit the baseline data then notify Nichole Hitchcock of all the team members' names who will need to be registered.
*This 2-day online training is approved for 5.75 continuing education clock hours for Kansas licensed Speech-Language Pathologists by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.
After completing the 2-day online training and follow-up coaching, participants will:
Demonstrate their understanding of the need to cultivate mentally healthy staff by explaining its impact on improving classroom management, teacher retention, student outcomes, and school culture.
Use knowledge of self-care strategies to practice supporting direct service providers in managing the daily demands and stressors presented in a school setting.
Analyze their staff's baseline data in order to develop, implement, and evaluate an implementation plan specific to one identified area of need.
Registration may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the event for a full refund. Cancellations received within 14 days of the event will not be refunded. No-show registrations will also not be refunded.
