Course description

This event is part of a training series.  Please do not register for this event if you are not planning to attend the full series.

Join Kansas educators and related service providers working individually or in transition teams to collaborate and demonstrate understanding and implementation of transition services that support postsecondary outcomes. Participants will learn how to identify, explore and access community supports and, with a student in mind, will create an implementation plan that links student education, family engagement and communtiy supports. Teachers, transition specialists and coordinators, administrators, parents, related service providers, and paraprofessional staff are encouraged to attend.

Pre-training assignment:

  • Choose and review one of the resources in the materials section of this registration site and be prepared to share 1 to 2 new insights.
  • Complete the Transition Collaboration Strategy Survey in the materials section of this registration site and submit to melissaw@tasnatbs.org.

October 25 & 26 (2 - half days from 8:30-12:00 each day): During this virtual training via Zoom @ https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81581001725, participants will design a plan to access community supports and will return to their practice to implement this plan. 

November 9 or 10: A virtual 30 minute to 1 hour coaching conversation

  • Sign-up for your coaching conversation will occur during training (please come to the training with a date and time in mind)

December 6: A 1-hour virtual meeting via Zoom to share outcomes and reflections with colleagues  

  • Participants will register for one of four available sessions (8:00, 10,00, 2:00, 4:00).  Each session will accomadate six participants / teams.  Availability for each session will be on a first come, first serve basis.

Upon completion of the training sessions, coaching conversation, and 1-hour virtual reflection, participants will be awarded a certificate for 8 hours of continuing education.

*This training is approved for 7.5 continuing education clock hours for Kansas licensed Speech-Language Pathologists by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify, explore, and evaluate strategies to access adult services and community supports with a student in mind. 

  • Design, implement, and evaluate an implementation plan linking student education, family engagement, and community supports. 

  • Understand, apply and illustrate the application of critical concepts through engagement in a virtual coaching conversation 

  • Participate in a virtual meeting to evaluate decisions, outcomes, and reflections as evidenced by sharing with colleagues during a virtual meeting.

Registration may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the event for a full refund. Cancellations received within 14 days of the event will not be refunded. No-show registrations will also not be refunded.
