Course description

An understanding of how the human brain handles stress and trauma is vital to building trauma-responsive school communities that address the social, emotional, and mental health needs of children/youth. To assist in this process, the Technical Assistance System Network (TASN) School Mental Health Initiative (SMHI) is proud to provide this four-part Neuroscience in Education eCoaching Series to accompany the Neuroscience in Education eLearning Modules. With scheduled online coaching sessions led by Dr. Lori Desautels, Assistant Professor at Butler University, participants will receive supplemental coaching to improve implementation of the concepts within the Neuroscience in Education eLearning Modules.

Each eCoaching Series consists of 4 online coaching events, which cover the pillars of Dr. Desautels’ Applied Educational Neuroscience Framework:

  1. Educator Brain and Body-States

  2. Co-Regulation

  3. Touch Points

  4. Teaching Neuroanatomy

Pre-Work: To gain the most from these eCoaching sessions, participants are asked to complete the corresponding eLearning Module prior to each eCoaching session (i.e. the Co-Regulation eLearning Module in Moodle prior to the Co-Regulation Coaching session).

Registration:

  • Three distinct eCoaching sections are available based upon participant roles: Administrators, Secondary, and Elementary professionals. The following registration is for Administrators. Please use the links above to register for an alternate series.

  • Participants only need to register once for the whole eCoaching Series, but please save these dates and times to your calendar for all four sessions between February and May.
