Course description

The Kansas State School for the Blind, The Kansas Instructional Resource Center, The Kansas Deaf-Blind Project, and The Kansas Technical Assistance System Network will sponsor the first Kansas Vision Symposium on November 2nd, 2018 in Salina, KS at the new Hilton Garden Inn.

This one day professional development is designed for Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments and Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialists.  Certificate, ACVREP credit and college credit available.

Symposium Agenda

7:30-8:30               Registration and Breakfast (provided):

8:30-8:40               Welcome and Introductions - Jon Harding

8:40-8:55               State of KS Goals for Special Education, Colleen Riley, KSDE

9:00-11:00             Sessions IA and IB (Independent Living Skills or Literacy Tips and Tricks)

11:00-11:50            Lunch (provided) Italian Deli Buffet 

11:50-12:00            Break

12:00-12:20            Guest Presenter - Beth Zilinger, Infinitec, Julie Ituarte, KSSDB Field Services

12:20-12:25            Bonnie Cochran, Envision

12:30-2:30              Sessions IIA and IIB (Methods for Your Mathness or APH Products)

2:30- 2:40               Break

 2:40-3:30              Co-Creation Coffee Connection  

 3:30-3:45              Wrap Up, Closing Remarks and Drawing

 

Participants will choose 1 breakout session for the morning, and 1 for the afternoon. After registering here, you will recieve a Google form in September asking you to choose your breakout sessions.  

 

A Block of rooms with special rate will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn/Salina until 

October 1***
