Course description

Who Should Attend? Anyone interested in assisting
students who struggle with the writing process and interested
in learning & collaborating together in a community.

Requirements: Participants are required to attend all live
webinars and complete questionnaires to enhance the
learning community experience.


What Is It? This series will focus on three areas of the
writing process: organization, entering text and editing. The
sessions will provide participants with strategies and tools
to support students that struggle in those areas


• Organization refers to the brainstorming and determination of
what ideas might be used in the body of the written work. It is a
plan and structure of the written work.
• Entering text refers to the physical aspect of putting the ideas
down, whether that be low tech such as pencil/paper or high tech
such as speech to text.
• Editing refers to the process of clarification and revision of the
body of work once it has been written. It is during this process

Participants will: 

  • list 3 tools to support writers at each phase of the writing process 
  • Assess the impact of tools use on student performance. 
  • Discuss the impact of tool use on student performance with other PLC members

This is an Online Series, to receive full credit, participants must complete all course requirements. 

  • Sept. 14, 2018 - Deadline for Participant sign up period

  • Sept. 27, 2018: 1st online training /meeting 3:30-4:30 Topic: SETT & Organization

    • Oct. 19, 2018– 1st online follow up question & collaboration

  • Nov. 1, 2018: 2nd online train- ing/meeting 3:30-4:30 Topic: Entering Text

    • Nov. 15, 2018– 2nd online fol- low up question & collaboration

  • Nov. 29, 2018– 3rd online train- ing/meeting 3:30-4:30  Topic: Editing

    • Dec. 6, 2018—3rd online follow up question & collaboration

  • Dec. 13, 2018: 4th online meeting  3:30-4:30  Topic: Re- view and Planning Implementa- tion

  • Late Feb. 2019– Online Collabo- ration

  • Early April 2019implementation sharinand Post PLC Survey
