Functional Vision Assessment: Pre-Service Class for TSVI's

Course description

This training is for Pre-Service Teachers of Students with Visual Impairment who are beginning their coursework, or for others who are interested in learning more about Functional Vision Assessments and how to conduct them.  It is a required course for TASN grant fund recipients.  

The training will cover the components of a Functional Vision Assessment, and instruction on how to complete each section.  Special emphasis will be on how to read and interpret an eye doctor's report.  

If at all possible, KS teachers should attend with their regional KSSB Field Services Representative who will assist them in conducting an assessment in their district after the training course. 

Learning Objectives

Training participants will: 

• Understand the purpose of conducting a Functional Vision Assessment
• Learn the criteria for a student to be classified as having a visual impairment
• Be able to locate a visual diagnosis & visual acuity on an eye doctor's report
• List at least three possilble accommodations / modifications that may be helpful for a student with a visual impairment 
• Improve their skill level and confidence in performing a Functional Vision Assessment

Refund Policy

Registration may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the event for a full refund. Cancellations received within 14 days of the event will not be refunded. No-show registrations will also not be refunded.
