Course description

Join Kansas educators and related service providers working individually or in transition teams to collaborate and demonstrate understanding and implementation of transition services that support postsecondary outcomes. Participants will learn how to identify, explore and access community supports and, with a student in mind, will be provided an opportunity to create an implementation plan that links student education, family engagement and communtiy supports. Middle school, high school and postsecondary teachers, transition specialists and coordinators, administrators, parents, related service providers, and paraprofessional staff are encouraged to attend.

Day 1 - During this online training via Zoom @ https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89280188680, participants will design a plan to access community supports and will return to their practice to implement this plan. 

Please complete this short pre-assessment prior to attending the training on Oct. 23: Pre-Assessment

Follow-up to this training will include:

  • A coaching email to assist in preparing implementation plan (Oct 30)
  • A coaching conversation by phone or virtual meeting (Nov 12) 
  • Sign up for your coaching conversation will occur during Day 1 (Oct 23)

Day 2: A 1-hour virtual on-line meeting via Zoom to share outcomes and reflections with colleagues  (December 10)  

  • Participants will register for one of four available sessions (8:00, 10,00, 2:00, 4:00).  Each session will accomadate four participants.  Availability for each session will be on a first come, first serve basis. Click on the time below to register for that session:

Upon completion of the in-person traing, coaching conversation, and 1-hour virtual meeting, participants will be awarded 5 hours of continuing education certificate.

*This training is approved for 5 continuing education clock hours for Kansas licensed Speech-Language Pathologists by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify, explore and access community supports with a student in mind

  • Create and apply an implementation plan linking student education, family engagement and community supports

  • Engage in a virtual coaching conversation

  • Participate in a virtual meeting to share outcomes and reflections with colleagues

Refund Policy

Registration may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the event for a full refund. Cancellations received within 14 days of the event will not be refunded. No-show registrations will also not be refunded.
