Course description

Does your child have a disability? Do you want know more about your parent rights? Will your child's IEP help them live a good life.

 

Walk away understanding your parent rights and with ideas, strategies, and resources for using person-centered planning to create an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that truly reflects your youth’s vision for a good life.

All session will be from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m.

Hybrid - in-person - Ft. Leavenworth and via Zoom

  • August 18 - Special Education: Parents Rights & Responsibilities, Lesli Girard, Co-executive Director, Families Together
  • September 15 - Let’s Talk IEPs, Leia Holley, Program Director Families Together
  • October 20 - Transition to Adulthood: Raising Expectations Through Person-Centered Planning and Understanding Your Rights, Leia Holley
  • November 17 - Self-determination and the IEP, Sheida Raley, Assistant Professor of Special Education, University of Kansas)
  • December 15th - Supported Decision-making, Sheida Raley
